DERMATOLOGY FOUNDATION ELECTS

2001 OFFICERS AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES

The Dermatology Foundation, which provides medical and surgical treatment advances through research, elected its 2001 leadership and approved $2.3 million in individual research awards at its annual Meeting of Membership held Saturday, March 3, in Washington, DC.

Officers elected by the Board of Trustees are:

James J. Leyden, M.D., Chairman, Board of Trustees; Jouni J. Uitto, M.D., Ph.D., President; Bruce U. Wintroub, M.D., Vice President; Richard L. Edelson, M.D., Secretary-Treasurer; and Michael D. Tharp, M.D., Assistant Secretary-Treasurer.

The Dermatology Foundation was created in 1964 by a group of concerned dermatologists in order to advance patient care through research. The nonprofit organization raises funds from members of the specialty and the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industry to support a broad-based program of research investigations, clinical and scientific publications and Continuing Medical Education programs for today’s dermatologists.

The Foundation is second only to the federal government as a source of funding for dermatologic research that addresses the practice concerns of the entire specialty.
