DERMATOLOGY FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES $2.3 MILLION IN RESEARCH AWARDS FOR 2001
At its 36th Annual Meeting on March 3, 2001, in Washington, DC, the Dermatology Foundation announced that $2.3 million was allocated for 56 research investigations to begin in 2001.
Award categories are: 8 Clinical Career Development Awards; 2 Health Care Policy Clinical Career Development Awards; 13 Research Career Development Awards; 10 Research Fellowships; 6 Dermatologist Investigator Research Fellowships; 1 Dermatopathology Grant; 2 Patient Directed Investigation Grants; 4 Program Development Grants for department programs; and 10 Research Grants.
Total physician support of the Research Awards Program of the Foundation reached $1.62 million in 2000, of which $1.3 million came from members of the Leaders Society and Annenberg Circle.
Corporate Benefactors in the Honor Society making major contributions to this years Research Awards Program were: Platinum Benefactors ($200,000 to $500,000) Dermik Laboratories, Inc., Galderma Laboratories, L.P., and Ortho Dermatological; Gold Benefactors ($100,000 to $200,000) Fujisawa Healthcare, Inc., and Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation; and Silver Benefactors ($50,000 to $100,000) Avon Products, Inc.; Biogen, Inc., Elan Dermatology, LOreal, Roche Laboratories and Unilever Home & Personal Care - USA.
